What is spirulina?
Spirulina is a microalgae found in highly alkaline salt lakes, mainly in Australia, Central America, South East Asia and Africa. Naturally, spirulina has a dark green to blue-green color. It belongs to the genus of cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green algae. This is why spirulina is often referred to as blue-green algae [1].
