What is Now Foods Betaine and what effect does it have?
The formula of Now Foods Betaine HCL combines the nutritional factors betaine hydrochloride (HCl) and protease .
What is Betaine HCL?
Breakdown processes take place throughout the body. In order for the processing and utilization of nutrients from food to function properly, sufficient hydrochloric acid, or HCL, must be present in the stomach. If there is a lack of hydrochloric acid, this process cannot be carried out properly.
Betaine HCL is the form of betaine bound to hydrochloric acid (HCL) and can counteract the lack of hydrochloric acid.
Scientifically proven:
- Betaine contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism (at min. 1.5g)
What is protease?
In order for proteins to be digested, HCL activates so-called pepsin, which is formed in the stomach. Pepsin is a protease, i.e. an enzyme that is able to break down proteins and peptides. It plays an important role in the processing of proteins that are supplied to our body through food, such as meat, fish, eggs, nuts or pulses.
